Wills Point is one of the closest towns to our yard, about 12 miles and a 15-minute drive out US-80 from Fruitvale, so we can usually get a crew there the same day. Known locally as the “Gateway to Tawakoni” for its access to Lake Tawakoni State Park, Wills Point sits in Van Zandt County’s post oak country, where open pasture gives way to hardwood tree lines along the creeks that feed the lake. That mix of open land and dense creek-side growth means two very different kinds of tree work show up in the same town.
More families have been moving out from the Dallas side over the last few years, drawn by acreage lots and easy access to I-20, and a lot of that land still has the tree line it came with: brush and volunteer trees that need clearing before a new home or fence line goes in. Closer to the lake, waterfront property owners call us to clear overgrown brush, remove trees blocking a dock or a view, or take down a tree that’s been undercut by shoreline erosion. Wills Point sits so close to the yard that storm-damage calls here get some of our fastest response times.
